With SAPPHIRENOW wrapping for 2018 its time to review the SAP Solution Manager Presentations. The big news was the C/4HANA announcement which is SAP’s new product name for all SAP CRM in the Cloud and replaces the Hybris brand name. This is a turning point in SAP’s strategy as it re-enters the fray against Salesforce.com and Oracle for domination of the Front Office. The knock-on effect of this strategy means we will see more SAP products adopting a Cloud first approach while supporting hybrid or on-premise integration.

So, what was the news on SAP Solution Manager? From the 10 ASUG presentation on what customers are focused on we see the two most common business drivers are supporting the migration to S/4HANA and managing a Hybrid environment. This was followed by the need to adopt Agile/Lean practices (Focus Build). Operations (Run SAP Like a Factory) also featured for stability and efficiency.  Finally, cybersecurity was a popular session, patching really is key to better security.
